From the start, I was impressed that Beatrice took extra time to help us figure out the right level to place Monica at and even gave her a custom lesson plan to get her ready for the level she was placed at.  This was the first time my child had to do any homework, and the first two weeks were challenging.  Initially, she was very distracted and had a difficult time focusing.  I remember reaching out to Beatrice, who made a lot of helpful suggestions, like giving her frequent breaks when she gets flustered or loses focus.  Monica then started the class, and thanks to Beatrice, it was the right fit. The class meets twice per week, and there are bi-weekly homework assignments.  Beatrice and her team's approach is engaging and tailored to each child in the small group. The incorporation of puzzles and trophy problems (problems requiring multiple problem-solving methods) has made the learning process more fun, thus fostering a love for math that extends beyond the traditional textbook approach. A few months later, we were able to get through the assigned homework much faster with fewer breaks.  She can pay attention and actually solves more problems than she was given, as she finds the process enjoyable. I believe this ability to focus will help her tackle homework that will start in the next grade.
